Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 error

I'm getting the "This device cannot start (Code 10)". What usually works is to unplug both the power and the USB cable from the unit for at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in. The drive will then work for about a week, and then I have to do it again.

Also, sometimes after doing the above, you have to go into Device Manager and disable the drive (Under USB Storage Device) and then re-enable it.
