Hi Uncle Charlie,

I have an Uncle Charlie :)

Some people were voting for more independent candidates (including Kucinich) through the primaries. I think we need to forgive them (for the sake of remaining united in the present in order to enact reform for the future), if, once the primaries were over, and they saw how FEW voted for the ideal candidates in the primaries, if they thought it would POSSIBLY be better to have a President Obama with a Democrat majority, than to have a President McCain or eventually a President Palin, if they feared another 2000, if they trusted Obama and hoped he was sending out messages between the lines that he really was for what we were for. When people voted for Obama, they were voting to end wars, for health reform, for a check on corporatism-- at least they thought they were voting for this as their mandate, at least we can be grateful enough Americans did at least that, as a step in the direction we want to go.

We need to forgive people if they needed this one more step to see the truth about our government and both parties' part in it. We still don't even know the whole truth because there is still a lot of darkness about what goes on in secret behind closed doors that victimizes even elected officials. Because Americans still do not insist (as a large enough majority, united) on transparency. I think Americans still fear transparency and facing truths about the society we have, and by now many fear repercussions if they speak out.

Someone like Keith can only keep talking on TV if they do not cross a certain line. Someone like him or DK are perhaps trying to do all they can within the system as one tactic. When he was the only one reporting on the Ohio ballots in 2004, how far could he go, without a majority of Americans standing up and doing their part to insist on transparency and therefore enabling business as usual? Maybe he was allowed to rant so the media could pretend it's unbiased and people could keep pretending our news is not 100% propaganda, that we can all keep pretending we have democracy as a beacon to the world after the fascist coup d'etat is already offically over. Keith has his role, we have ours.

We have been divided and conquered long enough, so it's time to stop playing along with that game, and if we are patient and resolved perhaps we can finally see a sea change and enough people to vote for a Kucinich or Nader or McKinney in this very next election.

And that still won't be enough to enact reforms because the American people have to step up to the plate and not just rely on voting for leaders to protect them and fix everything. We do have power and we must use it.
