Oh if only they were as good in retrospect as we had been hoping!

Three (Revolutions) was OK (The actual conclusion with the re-appearance of the black cat and the resetting of the Matrix, along with the rainbow-colored sky, were top notch), but Two (Reloaded) was a piece of sad trash that never should have been made. Had a sinking feeling immediately upon hearing that it was going to be named the same as the sad piece of trash from Metallica. Not quite as horrible a piece of trash as St Anger, but pretty much the same.

What did you imagine as far as how the plotline for the sequels would go? I had in mind a sequel where Neo and friends started showing off their powers, freaking the Matrix-dwellers out badly before massively "releasing" people living in the Matrix - and actually following the releases. Sure, that's part of the implied storyline, but we don't get to see that even once. Instead, all we see is a large crowd of recently released metro-scum having an irrelevant ghetto party. WTF was the point of that anyway?

What went through your head when you heard the last line of the first Matrix? "I'm not here to tell you how it's going to end, I'm here to tell you how it's going to begin..."  Certainly your imagination quickly pieced together something that felt a lot cooler than what we ended up with.
