You are absolutely correct. I could not agree more that you describe the only way to actually WIN the war on drugs. Not enough people realize that. More people should, then maybe we'd get away from this fictitious war.

Tell the poltiticians that unless they plan to actually fight this like a war, they'd better stop spouting their crap about being absolutely able to win this so-called war, and find a real solution to the problem, even though it's a self-solving problem if it is just ignored:

If you just ignore it, let all the people who want to do drugs have all they want, for free, and look what you get: The drug lords go out of business, there's no more reason to kill to get drugs, and the people who can't handle their drugs will die of overdoses, leaving only those that either (1) don't want any drugs, or (2) can handle their drugs and still maintain a decent lifestyle. Evolution in action, the people who can't handle it are removed from the breeding pool.

Instead of being a nanny state and keeping the drugs away from everyone, do the reverse and give every coke head and speed freak their very own kilogram of their favorite substance and then come back in a week or two to clean up the mess. It doesn't violate the constitution, and it actually promotes ultimate freedom - do whatever you want to do... even if it kills you!
