Mono installation on Fedora 3 or Mandrake 10.x?

Anyone had any luck with getting Mono installed on FC3 or MDK10.x? While
the Mono guys are doing phenomenal work on the actual framework
implementation, it seems to me that the project is severely lacking a
coherent installation process.

The RPM install packages are flaky and only for a few platforms.

Most installation instructions reference using Red Carpet, which seems to
have disappeared recently now that Novell has taken over Suse, Ximian, and

Very strange that there is no known way to get Mono working on Suse, even
though they are both produced by Novell.

Anyone out there got any better instructions/information?
