It should be noted that Christianity is almost the exact opposite of being 'self-reliant.' Christianity is an abdication of responsibility. It's giving up and saying 'Let God do His will!' When something goes wrong, you hear comments of it being 'part of the plan' and when things go right, it's all due to God's mercy. Christianity is stepping back and becoming a spectator in life. It's refusing to take responsibility and simply allowing yourself to become a victim of fate/God's will. Christians think 'praying' will fix things and sit back and wait for God to come save them from their own self-inflicted problems.
