OK, the new version is finally playable (!!), but there's still some stuff to finish. Online (and offliine) battles are working great. Come play it today!Still need to add more weapons, armor, and monsters. (And graphics, oh I need graphics, it's kind of plain looking at this point!)BUT - IT WORKS!! :)Warning: It does not use your MessageBase account as of yet, so you'll have to create a separate account. (Even if it's the same id and password, they just don't talk yet.) And the registration process is pretty hinky. (Basically sign up, and then you'll get to a place where you're not sure what to do next. At that point, close your browser and re-open it, then it will work for you.) Once I get MessageBase rewritten, then will be able to link the two. I found my old source code (written in pre .net active server pages with vba, wow this is some old stuff!) and rewriting it in C# and Blazor. Getting close to done, raids, battles, tavern, bank, and armor shop are done. Just a few more things to get converted. Excited to see this once popular game relaunch soon.Stay tuned!

Mijah was hit by a car last night, driven by some heartless idiot who had no concern for the sadness it would cause in my family. Mijah had been a member of our family for 12 years. A super friendly and mischevious cat. He will be missed.

I noticed that some bugs have been discovered in the ROTFOH code which would allow killing monsters/players after they were dead. The game was offline for a little over 24 hours, blew both the power supply and the hard drive in the web server. Good thing for backups! :)

If you notice that the game is running a lot more snappy the last few days - I moved the database from a Pentium 75 (Really!) with 48 megs RAM to an 800 Mhz Athlon system with 640 megs RAM. Much better.Let's all have a moment of silence for the old database server, Dreaming. Dreaming has been an excellent, problem-free machine since I started ROTFOH many years ago.  It still works, but it's just too slow these days, so it's getting turned off and stashed with my other ancient machines, like my original Commodore 64 and Packard Bell 386sx/25. It's a little sad, but progress keeps happening.

Getting very very close now, after hitting Raid, click on the Special Skills button. You will see the special skills you will have available when I get the handler code ready. The words will turn into buttons when done. Getting close. The database supports it, and the code needed to recognize that you have special skills available is done, just need to write the (relatively simple) code to handle using the special skills. Gotta get some sleep now, however.
