Wild Frontiers is a western-themed multiplayer game set in the untamed territories of 1888. As a pioneer, you'll navigate the countryside, build ranches, trade commodities, interact with NPCs and other players, while you carve out your legacy on the frontier.
The Nebraska you'll explore in Wild Frontiers 1888 bears little resemblance to the territory known in our timeline. In the spring of 1888, just months before the game begins, an unprecedented meteorological catastrophe struck the Great Plains—a storm so massive and violent that it defied all known weather patterns. What began as a series of severe thunderstorms coalesced into something never before witnessed: an EF6 tornado, a classification that shouldn't exist, born from atmospheric conditions scientists still cannot fully explain.
This titanic vortex, over three miles wide and sustained for an impossibly long duration, carved a chaotic path across the Nebraska Territory. In its wake, the very landscape was transformed. Entire townships were lifted from their foundations and deposited dozens—sometimes hundreds—of miles from their original locations. Roads that once connected neighboring communities now led to empty prairie or terminated abruptly at river banks that hadn't existed before the storm. County lines, carefully surveyed and established over decades, became meaningless as their constituent settlements found themselves scattered across the territory like seeds cast by a careless hand.
In the aftermath, pioneers discovered their world fundamentally altered. The city of Omaha might share borders with settlements that were once a week's journey distant. Counties that had been neatly organized now found their townships mixed among those of entirely different jurisdictions. The Platte River carved new channels, hills appeared where plains had been, and the familiar map of Nebraska Territory became obsolete overnight. Rather than attempt the impossible task of returning everything to its original place, the hardy settlers chose to adapt, rebuilding roads, reestablishing trade routes, and accepting this strange new configuration as their reality.
This is the world you enter as a pioneer in Wild Frontiers 1888. Cities sit in counties that would seem impossible by modern-day geography. Neighboring townships may have wildly different characteristics, histories, and allegiances. The paths between settlements follow the new reality of the land, not the logic of distance or surveyed boundaries. As you explore, remember: this is Nebraska Territory as it was remade by nature's fury—a frontier where the old rules no longer apply, and opportunity exists for those bold enough to claim it in this reshuffled wilderness.
You've just arrived at the Wild Frontiers 1888 Storm Shelter - your central hub for all your western adventures! The Shelter exists as a safe gathering place where pioneers from across the frontier can manage their affairs, connect with guild members, and decide which games to explore. Think of it as your home base between adventures.
From the Shelter's main menu, you'll see a list of available games. Each game represents a different frontier server where you can build your legend. Select "Available Games" to see which servers are running and join one that interests you. When you're ready to adventure, simply click "Enter" on any game card to begin your journey!
Here's the exciting part: you're not limited to just one game! Many pioneering spirits choose to explore multiple frontiers, building ranches and trading across different servers. You can maintain separate fortunes and empires in each game, giving you more opportunities to prosper. We actively encourage you to branch out and see what each frontier has to offer. The more games you explore, the richer your Wild Frontiers 1888 experience will be!
If you join or create a guild, remember that your guild membership spans across all games you play. You cannot be a member of different guilds in different games - your guild affiliation follows you everywhere. This means your guild mates are your allies across the entire frontier, and your collective strength and reputation will be felt in every game you play together. Choose your guild wisely!
Once you enter a game, the main game screen becomes your dashboard, showing your current location, stats (township, turns, resources), and available actions. This is where you'll spend most of your time exploring, trading, and building your empire. Turns are your most valuable resource, so use them wisely!
When you arrive at a township with a city, you can enter through the town gate to access various establishments. Each city may have different buildings available, so explore to find what services each town offers.
Visit the Blacksmith to upgrade your equipment. You can purchase new wagons with larger capacity, buy better horseshoes to reduce travel costs, sell horses you've captured, and buy general items to enhance your frontier experience.
Deposit your hard-earned Bux in the Federal Bank for safekeeping. Your savings earn interest over time, and stored money is protected from thieves and outlaws. Withdraw funds whenever you need them for purchases or trading ventures.
Stock up on essential equipment at the Hardware Store. Purchase items like mules for hauling cargo, booby traps for defense, and other specialized equipment your wagon can carry.
Visit the Sheriff to apply for a Federal Commission and become a lawman, view the Most Wanted list of outlaws with bounties on their heads, claim rewards for bringing criminals to justice, or post your own rewards on those who've wronged you.
The Saloon is the social heart of any frontier town. Order food to restore your health, use the facilities, make announcements for other players to see, or try your luck at the slot machine (limited to 10 plays per day). Talk to the Old Cowboy in the back for information about traders, routes, and local news—though his accuracy may depend on how many whiskeys he's had!
The University of Nebraska Territory houses valuable knowledge. Browse the horse breeds archive to learn about different horses and their capabilities, study organizations operating in the territory, and access historical documents from the frontier era.
Some townships have train stations where you can view train schedules, board passing trains, or check what trains are in the regional area. Train stations show you trains currently stopped, arriving soon, regional schedules, and trains on their routes.
When a train is stopped at your station, you can board it for fast travel across the territory. Each train has different routes and schedules, so check the timetables to plan your journey.
While traveling, you may encounter trains crossing your path. These encounters present opportunities for the daring—you can attempt to rob trains for their valuable cargo!
Robbing a train is a risky but potentially lucrative venture. Each train has a difficulty level that determines how many guards you'll face and your chances of success. Higher difficulty trains carry more valuable cargo but are much harder to rob. Be warned—failed robberies have consequences!
Towns with trading posts sell and buy three commodities: Grain, Gold, and Medicine. Each town type has different prices - look for the (GGM) numbers to see their trading profile. Buy low, sell high!
Load cargo onto your mules (wagon capacity). Use the "Unload Mules" option to transfer cargo between your mules and wagon. Dump unwanted cargo in a township with the "Dump Cargo" option.
Consult the Sage and select "Market Report" to see today's commodity prices across the game.
You can build a ranch in your current township. Ranches serve as your home base and can be upgraded to unlock new capabilities.
Ranches can store goods, house pioneers, deploy guard dogs, mount cannons, and much more. The barn is the heart of your ranch - enter it to access all ranch management options.
Your barn contains a treasury where you can store Bux securely. Deposit money from your pocket into the treasury for safekeeping, or withdraw when you need funds for your adventures. This is separate from the Federal Bank and keeps your wealth distributed.
Protect your ranch with guard dogs. Set dog behavior levels: Very Nice (friendly to all), Defensive (protect against attackers), Very Aggressive (attack intruders), or Charging A Toll (demand payment from visitors).
Deploy feral pigs around your ranch as an unusual but effective defense. These wild boars can prevent enemies from escaping by attacking their wagon wheels, giving you time to respond to intruders.
The Redneck Cannon is a defensive contraption that uses fermented grain and compressed air to fire projectiles at enemies. Configure two separate settings: one for enemies entering your township, and another for enemies that breach your ranch walls. The cannon's effectiveness depends on your grain reserves—no grain means no firepower!
Set your wall settings to control who can access your property. You can configure walls to allow allies while keeping enemies out, or lock down completely during dangerous times. Attackers can attempt to breach your walls, but your defenses will make them pay for it!
Your horse determines your travel capabilities. Different breeds have different stats. Upgrade horseshoes to reduce turn costs per township.
Wagons carry your cargo and mules. Better wagons hold more goods and reduce travel costs.
Train and deploy guard dogs to protect townships or ranches. Set their behavior: Very Nice, Defensive, Very Aggressive, or Charging A Toll.
Hire pioneers to help with ranch operations and tasks. They consume food but provide labor.
Mules carry your trade goods. The more mules, the more cargo you can transport. Manage mule loading/unloading carefully to maximize profits.
Place a smoke signal to leave a message visible to all who pass through that township. Use it to communicate, warn, or taunt!
Consult the wise Sage. The Sage provides access to:
Access the Pony Express - your personal mailbox for player-to-player communication. Send messages to other players to coordinate trades, form alliances, or send warnings. Check your inbox regularly for urgent messages! The Pony Express is essential for building relationships and conducting business with other pioneers on the frontier.
Join or create a guild to team up with other players. Guilds can own ranches, share resources, and dominate territories together.
Set traps to deter intruders. Be careful - your own traps can hurt you!
Found a wild horse or captured one? Tow it with you. You can only tow horses while riding another horse.
Send explorers to scout distant lands and complete various tasks for you.
Deploy mines in townships to damage enemies who pass through. Place trackers to monitor movement in specific areas and get alerts when someone enters. Both can be purchased at the Super Store and deployed from your wagon.
Install a Fog Bank Generator in your wagon (available at the Blacksmith's Super Store) to create concealing fog around your location. When activated through the Sage, the fog hides you from other players for a limited time. Useful for evading pursuers or setting up ambushes!
NPCs roam the frontier. You can interact peacefully or attack them. Be warned - attacking may have consequences! Some NPCs are friendly, others are outlaws. Their rank indicates their strength.
Other players share the frontier with you. You can interact, trade, or battle them. Federal Law townships restrict PvP combat.
Townships marked with the Federal Law badge prohibit aggressive actions. These are safe zones where you can conduct business without fear of attack.
When combat begins, you'll face off against your opponent in a battle system that considers your stats, equipment, and a bit of luck. Online players can actively participate in battles, while offline players are defended automatically. Surrendering is always an option if things look grim!
Upgrade your wagon and horseshoes to reduce turn costs. Plan your routes efficiently. Build ranches strategically to create waypoints across the map.
Study the market reports and learn the trading profiles of different town types. Create efficient trading routes that maximize profit per turn spent.
Don't keep all your Bux in one place. Use the Federal Bank for interest earnings, ranch treasuries for distributed storage, and keep some in your pocket for immediate needs.
Combine multiple defense systems for maximum protection: guard dogs at the perimeter, feral pigs to trap intruders, a Redneck Cannon for firepower, and booby traps as a last resort. Keep your grain stores high to fuel your cannon!
Don't spread yourself too thin. Focus on securing key territories before expanding further. Defend what you have before seeking new conquests.
The Sage provides invaluable information. Consult regularly to stay informed about game events, market conditions, and other players' activities.
Guilds provide strength in numbers. Coordinate with allies, share resources, and dominate regions together. Solo players can survive, but guilds thrive.
Federal Law townships are safe zones. Use them to regroup, trade safely, and plan your next move without fear of attack.
Keep an eye on train schedules for both fast travel and robbery opportunities. Lower difficulty trains are easier targets for beginners, while high difficulty trains offer greater rewards for experienced outlaws.
